Recycle – Transform – Exchange

The true circular path

Little by little, the bird builds its nest

Starting from nothing, this little project is built week by week, gathering its elements here and there as encounters happen.
This project is constantly evolving, and all its aspects are continuously updated, both theoretically and practically.

We give away

Our production blocks, after 2 to 3 harvests, begin to tire, and that’s when we take them out of the fruiting room to give them a well-deserved new life. These blocks are excellent compost supplements – a mix of decomposing wood and mycelium packed with protein. They are especially rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbohydrates that are easily assimilated by the microorganisms in your compost.

Incidentally, with a bit of care, it’s even possible that these blocks will give you a few more mushroom harvests!

COME PICK THEM UP IN POMPAPLES, RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR LITTLE LAB ENTRANCE!
THEY ARE FREELY AVAILABLE—HELP YOURSELF.

Optimize, optimize, optimize!

The construction of the small FloydFungi laboratory began in October 2021 and is still ongoing. Optimization is the key word in these 80m² where all mycological processes must be carried out: a clean room, an incubation room, a fruiting room, and a multipurpose handling area.
This small “Proof of Concept” project was born with very limited resources and thanks to equipment donations from EPFL Lausanne and Neuchâtel—without which we would still be in the Stone Age of mushroom cultivation.

Our short- and medium-term goals are to improve production processes by upgrading handling tools and gradually expanding our “fruiting” area to achieve more consistent mushroom production.
To do this, we are looking for relatively specific and costly equipment, which leads us once again to explore the path of second-hand and donated materials.

We are looking for:

Scientific equipment:

Glassware:

– Beakers (1L and 2L)

– Erlenmeyer flasks (1L and 2L)

– Graduated tubes (1L and 2L)

– Glass Petri dishes (90 or 100mm)

Devices:

– Several magnetic stirrers

– One orbital shaker

– One safety Bunsen burner

– Two quality fridges

– Laminar flow hoods (you can never have too many!)

Production equipment:

Machines:

– Ribbon mixer (500 to 2000 liters)

Furniture:

– helving on wheels

– Beverage fridge (for direct sales)

– Large hydroponic tents

– Two 20- or 40-foot containers
