Mushroom Grain Spawn (Mycelium)
- G3 Vitality: Mycelium in active growth phase on cereals, selected for fast recovery and powerful colonization of your final bulk substrates.
- Organic Rye & Precision Hydration: Certified organic rye, prepared for maximum internal hydration while remaining dry on the surface. This balance prevents clumping and ensures even distribution during mixing.
- Lab-Grade Sterility: Bags sterilized under high pressure (121 °C for 150 min) and equipped with a 0.2 µm professional filter, ensuring vital gas exchange without any risk of contamination.
- Versatility: Ideal product for expansion on wood-based or straw substrates (pasteurized or sterilized).
⚡ For the “Uninoculated” version (sterilized grain bag), the self-healing injection port allows you to introduce your liquid culture safely, maintaining absolute sterility.
Price range: CHF19.00 through CHF33.00
Freshness & Vigor
Unlike industrial productions often stored for long periods in cold rooms, our grain spawn is prepared exclusively on demand. This approach ensures you receive an organism at its peak metabolic state, ready to rapidly colonize your final substrate. However, this requires a bit of patience—use this time to prepare your setup before your mycelium arrives!
Technical Parameters (Indicative):
| Target Substrates | Pasteurized straw, wood (pellets/sawdust/chips) pasteurized or sterile. |
| Incubation Temp | 20 °C to 24 °C (depending on species and stage). |
| Recommended Inoculation Ratio | 10% to 20% of the total final substrate weight. |
📦 Protocols & Grain Spawn Maintenance
The success of your cultivation depends as much on the grain's quality as on how you manage it. Follow these guidelines to ensure maximum performance from the lab to the harvest.
1/ Storage & Conservation
- Immediate Unpacking: Remove bags from their shipping box upon receipt to allow the filter patch to breathe.
- Before Use: When you receive the grain, it is generally ready for spawning (inoculation). If you don't use it immediately, you must store it in the refrigerator between 2 and 4 °C.
- Validity: Your grain is optimal for about 4 weeks. For explosive colonization, use it as soon as possible after receipt.
- No Freezing: Never place your bags in the freezer; this would kill the mycelium and destroy the grain's cellular structure.
- Critical Position: Keep the bag upright. Attention: Never block the white filter patch. It is the bag's "lung."
2/ Deployment Methods (Usage)
Grain spawn is the "fuel" you transfer into your fruiting substrate:
- Straw Cultivation: Ideal for oyster mushrooms. Mix your colonized grain with pasteurized straw. Ratio: 10-20% grain / wet straw.
- Sawdust Cultivation: For wood-loving species (Shiitake, Lion's Mane, Reishi). Use a mix of hardwood sawdust and chips. Ratio: 5-10% grain / wet sawdust.
- G2G Expansion (Grain-to-Grain): Advanced technique consisting of inoculating sterile grain bags with your grain spawn. Ratio: 10-20% mycelium / sterile grain.
⚠️ TECHNICAL WARNING: G2G transfer is unforgiving. It must be performed under perfect hygienic conditions (HEPA laminar flow or rigorous Still Air Box) or you risk contaminating your entire series.
🚀 Shipping & Preparation Times
Living organisms follow their own rhythm. To ensure total success without compromising sterility, we follow a rigorous protocol:
- Uninoculated Bag (Sterilized Grain): Shipped within 5 to 7 business days. This time allows for the complete cycle (hydration, cooking, high-pressure sterilization) followed by a controlled cooling phase in a sterile environment.
- Inoculated Bag (Active Mycelium): Allow 3 to 5 weeks. This includes the technical grain preparation and full colonization by the chosen strain.
Shipped via Swiss Post (Switzerland & Liechtenstein). Note: A complete and detailed protocol will be personally emailed to you when your order is shipped.
